"Rebirth" is an acrylic palette knife painting on gallery wrapped canvas.
I was hiking in Paines Prairie State Park in the late fall, after a lot of rain. The trails were full of mud and fallen leaves-the pastures beyond, green with sparkles of filtered sunlight. On a particularly dreary path, a lone russula mushroom was poking out. I found the pink color so striking amidst all the decay, so I flopped down, stomach first, into the mud and took a picture.
"Rebirth" was painted nearly entirely with a palette knife and the mushroom detail was finger painted.
"Rebirth" is 24 x 48 and unframed, but wired and ready to hang. It's a large piece and would make a striking addition to a living or dining room.
